Compound Medications

Some patients are allergic, do not respond to, or have difficulty taking traditional medications. "Compounded" medications can solve this problem. Compounding refers to the creation of medications using raw chemicals and ingredients that are customized to meet the specific needs of each patient; most commonly made with all natural ingredients, or reformulated into alternative dosage forms (for example, a cream, ointment, or liquid instead of a capsule or tablet).

Examples Include:

Natural Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)

Compounding offers a natural alternative to controversial Hormone Replacement medications.

Pain Management

Specially compounded medications are available as creams, ointments, and gels to treat certain arthritic conditions, diabetic neuropathies, and other painful conditions.

Pediatric Remedies

Appealing flavors that mask bitter tasting medications and alternative delivery forms like lollipops make children more willing to take their medications. Plus, compounding can make dosing easier by allowing for the creation of lower strength medications for children.

Veterinary Products

For medications that need to be applied through a pet’s fur coat, or special flavoring techniques that will make pets more willing to take their medications.
